This is a mistake as old as the world (or almost)!
The magnet tricks the refrigerator into thinking its door is closed when it's actually open. Back in the day, people used to tape a light switch; the result is the same.
Oh, what a miracle! When we open the door, the lamp doesn't turn on!
But the light switch is only a minor part of the problem!
Unless you own an old-fashioned, fixed-speed refrigerator.
These noisy models required defrosting; they are no longer available commercially.
If the door of a variable speed refrigerator is ajar, its motor speeds up in a fraction of a second.
Forget magnets, adopt a timer, or better yet, a SHAON-SHANA!
